FOOLISH MORTALS : parting words
In her room, Belle's notebook can be found on her bed, a pen still tucked between the pages, as if she was in the midst of using it when her number came up, so to speak. Inside are a series of notes for each person remaining in the house, with a disclaimer at the beginning:
To whomever finds this:
If you are reading this, it means something has happened to me. Please, do me the honor of distributing these notes to their addressees.
--B. Lecoeur
The notes are as follows:

CHIP
Please know that I will miss you dearly when I am gone; I have grown to cherish your friendship and your leadership. Despite your small size, you have done so much to help us, and you've encountered so much grief in such a short time. Never allow anyone to look down on you for your size. There is a quote from Shakespeare that I will bastardize in order to describe you: "And though he be but little, he is fierce."
I think of that when I think of you, Chip. And I know that you will do your utmost to find my killer, in the event that you are reading this letter. Take your time. Do not let anyone speak over you or rush you. You describe yourself as a 'Rescue Ranger,' and I know that you are more than capable of helping to rescue everyone from this place.
Your friend,
Belle
SALLY
I'm sorry, but if you are reading this, I've died. And I know that it's your fondest wish to bring us all back from the dead, but...I would ask of you one thing:
Don't try to bring me back. If I've died, there's a chance I may be reunited with my dearest love. There may yet be a chance for he and I. Please, let us rest peacefully together.
You have come to be one of my favorite people in this place. Even if not always properly appreciated, your efforts to lighten the mood were always a wonderful surprise. Thank you for that, truly. I hope you are able to escape back to your Jack. And please, watch over Chip for me. Offer him a hand or a shoulder if he needs it.
Your friend,
Belle
KYLO
I might call you Ben, but I get the feeling you wouldn't much like that. But it is your name, isn't it? Your true name? That, I suppose, is beside the point, and something I will never know.
Your friendship is one that has puzzled me much in my time here. It's difficult to gauge, at times, how you felt about me. Sometimes you could be almost kind, but other times I saw flashes of you that worried me greatly. There's a small part of me that wonders if I might have earned your affection, but I do not flatter myself such an object of desire.
If you're reading this, it means I am gone. I don't want you to try to avenge me. Please, if anything, take my death as an opportunity to reach inside you and find the kind man I know is behind that mask. Show the others the kindness that I would, and you will see how much better things could be.
Because of you, I dreamt of places I never could have fathomed. Places in the heavens, between the stars. I want to thank you for that. I hope that one day, you will be among the stars and think of me fondly.
Yours,
Belle
CORNELIA
If you are reading this, it means something terrible has happened. And I want to apologize, because I hate to add to your grief and upset. You have been a good friend to me here, and I will miss your companionship. You cannot know what a comfort it was to learn that I was not alone in my mourning.
Please try to remain hopeful, and do not give in to despair. I know a way out will be found, and I can only hope that it comes soon after I am gone, rather than later. Your power, from what you have told me, is remarkable as you are. Don't lose heart.
Your friend,
Belle
VIRGIL
I want to tell you how much I regret that we did not know each other better. You seem level-headed and kind, things that I value dearly. You helped me to learn how to use Thalia's spear, which I appreciate more than you know. Although, in the event you are reading this letter, it means that your help was for naught. Please don't blame yourself; you are a good teacher, and I like to think in time we might have become good friends, too.
Take care of the others, please.
Your friend,
Belle
DONALD
Though we did not know each other well, I want to commend your resilience even in times of grief throughout this ordeal. I know you and Goofy were friends, and it isn't easy to see one's friends pass on. I hope that my death will not add to your grief. Thank you for always being willing to lend a hand, or a nose.
I only ask that you help watch over the others, and keep your chin up.
Your friend,
Belle
URSULA
To you I must apologize, for it seems I may have misjudged you. When I first met you, my thoughts were not wholly positive, and though I don't think you are altogether a nice person, I don't think you are as terrible a person as I initially thought. Your contributions to honor the deaths of Thalia, Amanda, and Reyna were noble and thoughtful.
In the event you are reading this, I hope you won't think ill of me...as ill thoughts can no longer reach me. However, I hope you are able to find a little kindness within yourself.
Belle
TADASHI
If you are reading this, I am very sorry. I thought it might bring some comfort to my friends, if something were to happen to me, but I know too that it might hurt a little as well. I hope this does not hurt you to read, but I want to thank you.
You have been a good friend to me during our time here. Even if what Ghostave said was true, even if you killed someone before...I shudder to say it, but I know you would not do such a thing without good reason. Know that I would stand beside you if I could, in the event of another such accusation.
Thank you for being patient, and kind, and for answering my myriad questions. I hope you are able to find a way out, and watch out for the others, as well. Please keep an eye on Sally; she's sweet and darling, despite outward appearances. Please help her to fully understand the implications of what goes on here, in my memory.
Your dear friend,
Belle
RATIGAN
We may not have known each other well, but I have a few parting words for you, too. Please have a little care in the event that another trial takes place. Your usual modus operandi is to sit off to the side and drink and make snide comments, but I hope that nobody would do the same if it were your death being investigated.
Best of luck to you,
Belle
JOSHUA
We did not know each other well, but I would humbly offer you some words of advice. As I am dead, you have no choice but to read them and listen well. Take care who you align yourself with. I see no reason to suspect you of misdeeds, but the company you keep makes me wonder what more lies behind your smiling face. Your sharp tongue may be a useful weapon, but I hope that you only continue to use it well.
Belle
MARNIE
I want to thank you for showing me that there are things girls can do in your time that they can't in mine. It gave me a lot of hope, knowing that things can change down the road. I shall be very sad if they don't have jeans in the afterlife.
I know we were sometimes at odds with each other, but I hope you won't remember me ill because of it. You're a bright and wonderful girl, and I'm very glad to have met you. Please never lose that spark. My father once described my late mother to me as 'fearless,' and it was something I always strove for. When I think of you, Marnie, the very same word comes to mind. Please always remain fearless.
Your friend,
Belle
OSWALD
I told you when we first met that I would not allow you to be forgotten. Please know that even though I am gone, I still have not forgotten you. I treasure your friendship and carry it with me always, wherever it is I might end up. You are an important piece of this puzzle; what exactly it is, I haven't worked out. But I have faith in you. I truly believe you are able to help everyone out of this place, and help put a stop to this cruel game.
Please keep an eye out for Chip and Sally. With Chip, you share a smaller stature and a soft exterior. With Sally, you share a puzzling nature and permanence I don't quite understand. Please stay kind, and curious.
Your dear friend,
Belle
